I have come to believe that digital information fluency and social media literacies are essential for 21st Century learners and a well informed citizenry. I believe in this so much that I plan to pursue studies in these fields which hopefully lead to a terminal degree.
This portfolio is the culmination of my studies of Assessment in eLearning taken online from the University of Wisconsin - Stout. I have learned much from taking this course. Authentic assessment techniques along with digital technologies formed the core competencies of the course. During this course ideas that had been stewing in my mind coalesced to form a more solid understanding of what teachers are currently doing in the classroom and current assessment techniques that include digital systems. My journey through this course has been time consuming because I have been delving deep into the researching of digital tools that effectively help teachers in the classroom and how to teach learners to use those tools effectively, efficiently, and ethically.
Within this portfolio you will find a collection of activities that I developed throughout this eight week course. The materials center around a future eLearning course that I hope to teach on social media literacies. I have included a taxonomy chart compiled from Bloom's Revised Taxonomy (Lorin Anderson and David Krathwohl) to help align outcomes and learning objectives with learning activities. To visually organize my thoughts of assessment I have a concept map. Technology tool choices and a scoring rubric are used to help make activities authentic and to provide for the wide diversity of student populations.
